Nov 11, 1925 - Oct 9, 1945 The war was officially over, but at Okinawa, "one of the worst typhoons to ever hit the Pacific," sank the LSM 15, and Noel was lost. Noel was born on Nov. 11, 1925, seven years after the signing of the Armistice finalizing the end or World War l, "the war to end all wars." One month short of his 20th birthday, Noel died, away from home, after another war.

Jan 28, 1923 - Aug 14, 1943 Richard was a fireman-waterman in the Merchant Marine, serving aboard the M.H. DeYoung, which was torpedoed near New Hebrides in the Pacific. One passenger, one officer, and two men were killed. Richard Lewis was one of the casualties. In December 1944, a new Liberty ship was launched in his honor, named William Richard Lewis.

John P. McLaughlin

Oct 22, 1922 - Feb 27, 1944 In 1944, John McLaughlin was a Naval aerial gunner participating in submarine bombing and observation surveillances over the Bay of Biscay and along the western approaches to England and Ireland. On his 1Sth mission, his plane went down off the coast of Ireland, reportedly 20 miles from the home of his grandparents.
